Sharing the history of Roswell is our passion and a commitment to youth education is
a major part of the mission of the Roswell Historical Society.
Since 1990, the Society has annually donated over
one thousand copies of its children's activity book "Roswell: Our City’s Heritage" to third grade students
in Roswell public schools.
Every year hundreds of students take guided walking tours of Roswell’s Historic
District with our trained volunteer guides who interpret the history of Roswell and the historic buildings along the route.
Cub Scouts, Brownies, Boy and Girl Scouts earn merit badges by studying Roswell’s rich history with the help of Society
walking tour guides. We can provide in-school programs on Roswell History to augment teachers' lesson plans. We can also provide
speakers for other organizations.
(If you would like to arrange a group tour for adult or youth groups, please
call: 770-640-3253.)
We offer our members and guests out-of-town tours to other historic communities. Participants
tour houses, museums, and historic sites. Travel is by chartered coach on day trips or over long weekends and tours are offered
at affordable prices. Out-of-town tours are an opportunity to get to know fellow members in a relaxed, non-meeting situation.
We mount periodic exhibits with historical themes. Exhibits feature materials held in our Archives, including photographs,
artifacts, textiles, vintage clothing, and documents or objects relating to Roswell history.
We publish on historical
topics. Our publications are available at the Society office and at selected retail locations in Roswell.
We host meetings
with informative speakers. Guests are always welcome.
